Terms of Service

By creating an Expendora account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) and capable of forming a binding contract. You're responsible for keeping your password secure.

You're responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access (support@expendora.app). Don't share your login with others.

New accounts get a 7-day free Pro trial, no card required. The trial also includes 5 Smart Scan receipt scans to try out the OCR feature. When the trial ends, you stay on the free plan unless you upgrade.

Anything you log in Expendora belongs to you. You grant us a limited right to store and process it so we can provide the service. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Expendora offers two AI-powered features that send data to OpenAI when enabled:

AI insights — sends anonymized summaries of your spending (category totals, monthly aggregates, patterns) to OpenAI to generate personalized observations. We never send your name, email, transaction notes, or any other identifying information.

Smart Scan (receipt scanning) — when you upload a receipt image, that image is sent to OpenAI to extract the amount, merchant, date, and category. The image content (your purchase details, store name, etc.) is therefore shared with OpenAI for processing. Smart Scan is available only on the Pro plan (with 5 trial scans during the 7-day trial) and requires a verified email address.

OpenAI processes this data per their API data usage policy and does not use it to train their models.

You can turn both features off at any time from Settings → AI features. When disabled, AI insights fall back to rule-based observations (computed locally on our servers, no third-party calls) and Smart Scan stops working — you'll need to enter receipt details manually.

The Free plan is limited to 30 expenses per month. Once you reach this limit within a calendar month, you'll need to wait until next month or upgrade to Pro to add more. Income entries, categories, and your history remain accessible regardless of plan.

Ads on free tier (future). We may, in the future, show advertisements to Free plan users to support the cost of running the service. Pro subscribers will never see ads. When and if we introduce ads, we'll update this section with specifics about ad providers and the data shared with them. We will not enable ads without notifying free users in advance.

Don't use Expendora to:

• Violate any law or third-party rights.
• Try to access other users' data, reverse-engineer the service, or run automated scrapers.
• Upload malicious content or attempt to harm the service.
• Resell the service or share your account commercially.

Expendora is a tool to help you track personal finances — not financial advice. We do our best to keep it running, but we provide it "as is" without warranty of any kind. Don't rely on Expendora for tax filing, investment decisions, or legal compliance.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Expendora and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability to you in any year won't exceed the amount you paid us in that year.

You can delete your account anytime by emailing support@expendora.app. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — we'll usually give you a warning first unless the violation is serious.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email and a notice in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Pune, Maharashtra.
